Support your neighbors with a year-end donation to Appliance Depot

What If?
What if you couldn’t have hot meals because your stove wasn’t working? What if you had to keep refrigerated items in a cooler because your refrigerator was on the blink? What if you had to spend your time and money shuttling your three children back and forth to the laundromat because you didn’t have a working washing machine?

Many of us take a working stove, refrigerator, washer and dryer for granted. But without these household appliances, families get pulled into poverty, spending money on fast food, laundromats, and transportation, and are more susceptible to loss of employment and health issues.

Appliance Depot is starting a new program in partnership with the Opportunity Council’s Weatherization program to give working ranges, refrigerators, washers and dryers to families that need them, and we need your help! Our goal is to raise $5000 by the end of 2018 to launch this program. This $5000 will provide 30 appliances to neighbors in need.

As we enter this season of giving, we’re reaching out to you, our longtime community supporters, to help your neighbors in need. Your year-end cash gift will provide a tangible and significant impact on a Whatcom County family’s quality of life. Whatever you give is truly appreciated, whether it is $10, $1000, or anything in-between.

Appliance Depot’s Story
Appliance Depot began with a vision: bring together two valuable resources – unwanted appliances and unemployed community members – to create an organization that benefits the community environmentally, economically, and socially.

Over the last 12 years, Appliance Depot has kept 50,000 appliances from the waste stream, preserving the energy embedded in those machines and reducing the need for energy intensive resource extraction, manufacturing, and shipping of new appliances. We’ve provided life-changing job training services for 400 unemployed residents, preparing trainees with the support, skills, experience, confidence, and a reference to get back into the workforce. By using appliances that would otherwise have been trashed or recycled, we’ve created sustainable jobs, injecting $4 million into our local economy. Lastly, we offer reliable, affordable, guaranteed appliances to community members who otherwise could not afford the cost of new.

We are proud of the work we’ve accomplished in our community, and we are so grateful for your support over the last 12 years. We rely on our community to think of us when disposing of unwanted appliances. Without those donations, our program would not exist. And regardless of whether you purchase appliances from us because of our mission, our prices, or our service, our program can continue to keep its doors open because of your support.

With your continued support, we’re thrilled to help our community become stronger, healthier, and more equitable.
